Post 5: My future job

First I have to say I haven’t thought too much about what kind of work I would like to have, yet.
One thing is for sure: I will be an architect. Since I started studying this career I knew that I was in the right place. The thing I like more about architecture is the creative part, the fact that you can, and must, put all your imagination in a project.
That is why between all the things that an architect can do, I would like to do architectural design. I imagine myself in an architecture office working with other professionals, and other architects as well, in a massive project. I would like to design huge unique buildings destined to be apartments, public buildings, offices, etc.
I don’t like much the other options like urbanism or buildings renewal. I don’t like the first because I think that it is very difficult to design at that scale and it is even more so to make sure your project will be built. And on the other hand I don’t like to renovate buildings because I think it is an obstacle to work with something that is already built, I prefer to design everything from the beginning.
Obviously I would like to earn a lot of money, I would be very happy, but money isn’t a problem for me. The only thing I want is to have enough money to live a peaceful life. The things I would love to have at work is enough salary, free time and a flexible schedule.
This image is from a huge residential project, located in New York and designed by Bjarke Ingels, and it is my favorite project.

Post 4: My thoughts about urbanism

I’ve heard a lot about sustainable urbanism, especially because I study architecture, and there is an important subject about urbanism where we learn all these things. I totally agree with sustainable urbanism, because the cities have grown enough without control by the sprawl system. This way of building cities is why we have so many environmental problems everywhere. Overpopulation problems are the main cause of the sprawl and high-density sprawl, so now we have to make something of it.

We need to start taking care of how we build cities and how we organize them. And especially, we need to design urban projects with the objective of getting a better life of the users, and not our own economic benefit.
I think this has been the problem that causes the sprawl: the importance of the profits. Right now most of the people are interested more in earning money than in the quality of their work, because the company that builds the sprawl cities get rich, but they don’t care about the environment or the quality of life that the buyers have. And of course this has not been controlled by the government, who should notice this problem and solve it, making this sustainable urbanism projects.
No one can say it is impossible because there are the examples of Europe or China, with their renewal projects that actually work.

Post 3:My favorite hobby

What is my hobby?
What do I like of this hobby?
For how long do I have this hobby?

When we talk about hobbies, I have to say that I don’t have just one hobby. I don’t like to do the same thing always; I get bored easily so I change very often my hobbies. However, ever since I was a child, I liked watching movies and TV shows. Usually the genres I liked most were the fantastic ones, especially when I was younger, I liked movies of superheroes or castles, dragons and knights. And as I said, I changed from one to the other in a short time, for example one week I loved movies like The Lord of the Rings, and later I liked Pirates of the Caribbean.

When I grew up, I started watching a lot more movies from different genres, like the scary movies or more realistic TV shows. Right now for example my favorite shows are Game of Thrones and Merlí, and my favorite movies are the ones directed by Quentin Tarantino.

I like to watch movies or shows because of many reasons. First, I like the fantastic ones because there is the possibility to show you an amazing world without limits. And also I like the more realistic TV shows because they are a closer image to the reality, and you can learn one or two things when you watch them. I also think that is not very difficult to have this hobby, now you can watch TV shows almost anywhere with your cellphone. Sometimes, I can even watch a movie while I work for the University, especially if I have already watched it.

Post 2:From Barcelona to Madrid

The best holidays I’ve had so far took place when I was a child. I went to Barcelona with my parents when I was 4 years old, and we stayed there for 5 years. I don’t count those 5 years like holidays because I went to school there, but in one of those years (I don’t remember exactly) we went from Barcelona to Madrid in a rented car with my parents and grandparents. We took 2 days to get to Madrid, because we stopped at every town and tourist area we found.
In Spain there are no earthquakes, so almost every monument and castle that was built in Spain still stands, so we visited a lot of castles and ruins like Segóbriga, a ruin of an ancient roman city, or Morella, a city with huge walls around it.
I loved this holidays because of two things: I love castles and ruins from the middle Ages, and Spain has a lot of them, like Tossa de Mar or Morella. And also because I was travelling with my family by car, so those two days we spend them travelling from town to town visiting a lot of new and interesting places.

Post 1:Where would I like to travel?

The question about where I would like to travel it’s always a difficult one, because I love the act of travelling. But that doesn’t mean I would travel anywhere, there are some places I would never travel to, for example the Arab countries, because of the violent culture they have and the constant war they are into.

The place I would like to go for surely is Europe, to visit countries like France, England, Germany, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Italy and Spain. I have already visited the last two but for that I have even more reasons to travel there again, because I loved them.

I want to go to Europe because I think everything is better there. I had the opportunity to live in Barcelona for 5 years and there I understood that the culture, for example, it’s a lot better there, everything works as it should, the people live happier and relaxed, and even they work less hours so they have more time to spend with their friends or family.

We could be all day writing about the things that are better in Europe than in South America, but in conclusion I think that there are little differences between us (the Europeans and the South Americans) that make this great disadvantages that our continent has, for example, the effort we put in our work, and the objective of that effort. Should we focus on our own benefits, or those of the whole country?
